  • Accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior in June, 1987 after being an occasional pew warmer since childhood.
     
  • October, 1987 reaccepted Christ as her personal Savior, just to be on the safe side.   Three months later, led her husband to Christ after he noticed something “different.”
     
  • Mother of two kids: Darah and Brad

    Brad, a record breaking long-distance hiker, serves as the Personal Assistant to Pastor Miles McPherson,  Senior Pastor of The Rock Church, San Diego, CA
     
  • Lifelong heart patient. Two open-heart surgeries (first one at age 25) to correct congenital heart defects.  Join her in the bathroom (great acoustics!) and you can hear her artificial heart valves click!
     
  • Widowed at the age of 42, leaving her with two young children to raise.
     
  • Remarried to Mike Galdonik, a short-term mission leader and all-around Minnesotan nice guy.
     
  • Author Take Heart! -a collection of laugh-out-loud essays that look at life through menopausal eyes.
     
  • Author of inspirational stories published in Teatime Stories for Women, Stories of God’s Abundance and Teens Can Bounce Back.  Contributor to: Chicken Soup for Soul Healthy Living Series – Heart Disease and Improving Systems of Care, A Patient's Perspective
     
  • 2001:  Rudy’s son, Brad solo-hiked the Appalachian Trail as a 16 year-old junior in high school.
     
  • 2003:  Brad broke the world record solo-hiking the world’s longest trail:  the Pacific Crest Trail . He hiked Mexico to Canada in 67 days!
     
  • Short-term mission leader.  Led teenagers, along with her second husband, to the slums of Mexico to build houses for homeless families. Now, summers are spent teaching English at a short-term mission camp in Germany.
     
  • Serves on Women & Infants  Patient and Family Advisory Council.
     
  • 2006 Mayo Symposium Graduate with WomenHeart,   The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease.
     
  • Past service:  Co-chair: American Heart Association, Women and Heart Disease Committee.  2003 American Heart Association Heart of the Year Award. National Board of Directors, Adult Congenital Heart Association.
     
  • National speaker for women and heart disease and patient and family centered care. Please inquire about how Rudy can impact your program.
     
  • Graduated: Upsala College. (You’ll have to trust her on this one – Upsala went bankrupt in 1995 leaving Rudy with no alma mater.)
     
  • 6th Grade - a banner year - Citizenship Award, Writing Contest Winner, Correctly guessed the number of Cheerios in the jar at the Annual PTA Fun Fair.
     
  • When Rudy is not speaking or writing, she is busy stealing treasures off her neighbor’s trash.
